Pottery On The Avon Gallery - Happy Pig Studio
Where Art Meets Clay
My name is Steve Hall. I moved with my wife Katrina and daughter Amy, to the incredibly creative community of Stratford in Victoria. Our property has the beautiful Avon River running through it, hence Pottery On The Avon, also POTA makes an appropriate acronym.

I've recently retired and even more recently discovered the amazing world of pottery. Since starting my creative journey early this year, I have been overwhelmed by the generous encouragement of the local potters that I have been lucky enough to meet. They are such a happy and positive community to be a part of, and as one of them said to me recently, "Who wouldn't be happy playing in mud?"

Although I'm new to the world of ceramics I am passionate about experimenting with different clay types, and glaze and firing techniques, with the emphasis being on creating unique rather than commercial pieces. My intention is for Pottery On The Avon to become a small gallery celebrating local potters. Equally I want to develop a studio which serves as a relaxing and creative space where family, friends and community can learn about the incredible potential of having fun with clay.
When I first started making 'stuff' in the studio I thought of the saying, "Happy as a pig in mud." I'm also an 'earth pig' according to the Chinese horoscope, so there it is - Happy Pig Studio.
